BNE30 Metropolitan Green Belt
Within the Metropolitan Green Belt, as defined on the proposals map, there is a general presumption against inappropriate development. Development will not be permitted unless the following objectives are fulfilled:
- it is designed and sited so that the open character of the area is maintained; and
- it accords with the purposes of including land in the Green Belt.
- new buildings will only be permitted for the following purposes:
- agriculture or forestry; or
- essential small scale facilities for outdoor sport or recreation, for cemeteries or other land uses that fulfil the above objectives; or
- a limited extension, alteration or replacement of an existing building; or
- limited infilling within the village boundary of Upper Halling.
- the reuse of buildings will only be permitted if:
- the development fulfils the above objectives, taking into account any proposed extension to the buildings and any associated uses of land surrounding the buildings; and
- the buildings are of permanent and substantial construction, and are capable of conversion without major or complete reconstruction; and
- the form, mass and general design of the buildings are in keeping with their surroundings.
