T18 New Transport Infrastructure
Proposals for major transport infrastructure will be assessed against the following considerations:
- the provision of facilities for integrated transport, including cycling, pedestrian movement and public transport;
- the contribution of the scheme to improved safety;
- the economic impact of the infrastructure investment, through the estimated benefits of reduced journey times for commercial, business and other traffic;
- the environmental and social impact of the scheme including extent of protection for the built and natural environment, estimates of noise and vibration and proposed mitigation, severance and landscaping proposals; and
- the demonstrable need for the infrastructure and its contribution to the regeneration of Medway’s economy and physical environment balanced against the need not to encourage private car journeys.
