CS19 Public Transport
We will support and enhance our public transport network by:
- Encouraging developers to demonstrate that their proposals are adequately served by a variety of modes of transport and that the proposals do not have an adverse effect on transport within the vicinity of the site;
- Ensuring all major development demonstrates the public transport impact through Transport Assessments;
- Prioritising development that demonstrates innovative and intelligent design which promotes public transport travel and/or reduces the need for private vehicle travel;
- Seeking sustainable transport contributions towards the improvement of transport infrastructure through planning obligations;
- Ensuring Travel Plans accompany all major developments;
- Supporting town centre development that encourages innovative ideas to improve the public realm;
- Safeguarding land for construction of major public transport projects;
- Encouraging schools to complete school travel plans in line with the Mayor’s London wide target;
- Supporting development which improves transport interchanges and transport reliability.
