Policy 15

Applications for the extraction of building sand will be judged on their merits having strict regard to the provisions of Policies 6 and 7, to the issues in Policy 10, and to the presumptions in Policies 11 to 13. Notwithstanding Policy 11(1), the local planning authorities will be prepared to grant permissions for the extraction of up to 150,000 tonnes a year from sites within the North Wessex Downs AONB, so long as all other requirements of these policies are met and the authorities are satisfied that the AONB will not be adversely affected by the operations proposed.
