E2 - SAFEGUARDING EXISTING INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL LAND
The loss of existing suitably located industrial and commercial land in built-up areas to other uses will not be permitted unless its retention for industrial and/or commercial use has been fully explored without success.
Suitably located larger industrial and commercial sites are identified on the Proposals Map.
Smaller sites will be regarded as being suitably located where:
- they are located on parts of the highway network where traffic can be satisfactorily absorbed;
- they are in a location which is convenient for public transport;
- existing or proposed development would not significantly harm the character of the area;
- existing or proposed development would not significantly harm the amenities of nearby residents
