INF5: DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE
1. Residential and commercial development should make provision for gigabit-capable broadband connections, unless it is demonstrated that this is not practicable.
2. Proposals for the installation of telecommunications infrastructure will be supported where it has been demonstrated that:
- The possibility of erecting antennas on an existing building, mast or other structure has been explored;
- Consideration has been given to the need to cater for the future growing demand for network development, including that of other operators;
- The telecommunications infrastructure will not cause significant and irremediable interference with other electrical equipment, air traffic services or instrumentation operated in the national interest;
- Every effort has been made to minimise the visual impact of the proposal;
- The siting is not intrusive in the townscape or landscape and the design is of a height, scale and appearance which does not unduly detract from the character of the area or unacceptably harms the amenity of the occupiers of neighbouring sites unless there is a specific need which outweighs the harm.
