RUD18 - FARM SHOPS

Farm shops will be permitted provided that:

  • the development is small scale and ancillary to the operation of the farm holding;
  • the amount of non-local produce sold in the shop remains subordinate to the scale of produce grown on the farm holding and on other local farms and such produce is appropriate for sale in a countryside location;
  • the amount of traffic likely to be generated by the proposal would not prejudice highway safety or cause significant harm to the environmental character of country lanes;
  • the development would not have a significant adverse impact on nearby village shops;
  • the development would not have an adverse impact on the character, appearance and amenities of the locality. Consent will be granted only for minimal advertising appropriate to a rural area.
