RUD23 - EXTENSION OR REDEVELOPMENT OF EXISTING COMMERCIAL / INDUSTRIAL PREMISES IN THE COUNTRYSIDE BEYOND THE GREEN BELT
The extension of existing business, industrial, research and development, storage and distribution premises in the countryside beyond the Green Belt will only be acceptable provided the proposal would not:
- change significantly the scale of the existing premises;
- extend significantly beyond the existing principal buildings into open land or have a significant adverse effect on the appearance of the countryside;
- generate volumes of traffic that would prejudice highway safety or cause significant harm to the environmental character of country roads;
- have a significant adverse effect on the residential or rural amenities of the locality.
Proposals for the redevelopment of commercial / industrial buildings will be required to satisfy criteria 3 and 4 above and should be sited on or close to the position of the original building and should not exceed the height or be materially larger than the existing building.
