P67 Reducing water use
Development should reduce water use by:
- Ensuring that residential development has a ‘safe to drink’ water use of no more than 105 litres per person per day, excluding an allowance of 5 litres or less per person per day for external water use; and
- Incorporating measures to reduce the demand for mains water treated to drinking standard and enable the use of grey water and/or rainwater for non-drinking uses; and
- Major development should assess the need for improvements to water supply infrastructure in discussion with water utility companies.
