CCW4: CHARACTER OF DEVELOPMENT

Development is expected to preserve and enhance the character area in which it is located (as shown in Figure 5.1).

Development proposals in the defined character areas will be supported which:

  1. exhibit design reflecting local context, character and vernacular of the area;
  2. demonstrably enhance the quality of the built form through innovation in design;
  3. make a positive contribution to the character area when viewed from the main highway approaches into the settlements;
  4. do not have a significantly detrimental impact on local views as set out in Policy CCW10; and
  5. contribute to the conservation and enhancement of designated and non‐ designated heritage assets and respect their significance and context.
