D.DH9 Shopfronts

1) New or replacement shopfronts are required to be robust and welldesigned and ensure:

  • the maintenance of active shopfronts at all times
  • a sensitive relationship between the shopfront and the upper floors
  • a sensitive relationship with surrounding shopfronts and buildings
  • the use of materials which are appropriate to and enhance the local character and value existing architectural and historic features, and
  • the provision of sensitive signage location and design, which is not overly dominant to the shopfronts and the buildings.

2) Shopfront fascias should not extend above ground floor level.
