Planning permission for a market will only be granted where all of the following criteria can be met:

  • It would not harm the vitality and viability of existing markets and retail centres in the district;
  • It would not harm the residential amenities of any nearby properties, in terms of noise and disturbance;
  • The proposal would not be detrimental to highway safety;
  • It would provide adequate access and parking for market traders.
