EN2: Renewable Energy
All new development, including substantial refurbishments, should demonstrate that all practical measures have been included to minimise the use of non-renewable energy and maximise the use of low carbon energy sources to minimise the impact on climate change. Such development should:
- demonstrate that it has taken all reasonable steps to minimise energy use and maximise energy efficiency;
- demonstrate that systems have been designed to operate at optimum efficiency e.g. low return water temperatures;
- facilitate the reduced use of unregulated energy on-site where technically feasible and commercially viable;
- maximise the proportion of renewable energy generated on-site consistent with local amenity and without causing harm to heritage assets.
