KBR21: HOUSEHOLD AND COMMERCIAL WASTE CONSOLIDATION

Development proposals to provide dedicated non-recyclable and recyclable waste collection solutions to serve multiple commercial premises and residential households are strongly encouraged. Such provision should ensure that it does not reduce pedestrian amenity or space on pavements and should be of a design, colour, material and scale which is in keeping with the character of the local area.

Waste facilities that are integrated into the design of buildings and allow for the separate storage and collection of recyclable materials, including compostable material are encouraged. In order to protect visual amenity, such facilities should be suitably screened. Odour should also be mitigated.

Development proposals to minimise the need for waste transfer and its consequent emissions to air, land or water are strongly encouraged.
