How can I find the best and worst areas for a particular Dataset?

Once you have performed your metric search, you will be be taken to the data insights page where a graph will appear in the centre of the screen. Expand the graph by clicking the expand button in the top right of the panel, which will show you the data in more detail. Click the “Highs & Lows” button in the top right and you will see a panel with the 5 highest scoring and 5 lowest scoring postcodes in your selected metric.

How can I find visually similar areas?

Once you have performed your metric search, in both Walulel Data and My Data modes, you will be able to select “Visual Comparison” from the tab navigation panel at the bottom of the screen. This will show you images of your selected area as well as providing you with images of visually similar areas should you wish to investigate more.

How can I access Planning Policy information about an area?

You can discover Planning Policy information for a selected area in two ways.

  1. Once you have undertaken a regular metric search, at the right-hand side of the bottom tab navigation panel you will see a button titled Planning Policy. This mode will open a panel from which you can search Planning Policy information relating to your selected postcode.
  2. When on the WaInsight landing page, in the left-hand side navigation panel you will see an icon of a map at the bottom of the list. If the panel is expanded you will see the title Planning Policy. Opening this mode will show you a search panel very similar to if you have selected Planning Policy in the regular search mode, except you can enter a postcode of interest directly into this search panel.

Both modes will allow you to view the same information:

  • Select a Planning Policy category from the dropdown menu and you will be shown a list of each policy that impacts that postcode.
  • Clicking on any of the policies in the list will show you both the boundary of the area that policy specifically affects on the map, as well as the policy content and specific information that applies to that Planning Policy, which will inform you of the planning restrictions or obligations that will apply to any development or alteration in that postcode.
  • If you come across an abbreviation or term you don’t understand, simply select the Glossary tab in the search panel and begin typing in the term. Select the correct entry from the list and you will be shown a definition of that term or abbreviation.
